Everybody’s talking flash fiction, with online and print journals, anthologies and contests offering numerous paths to publication. Some authors are even writing complete novels-in-flash. In this class, we’ll explore what makes micro narratives of 50, 250, or 1,000 words pop off the page, and how writers can convey character, arc and emotion in a small space. We’ll read a range of flash fiction examples, experiment with short-shorts through a series of exercises, discuss venues for our micro masterpieces, then polish and submit our best work of the day.
