Speaking Out: Poetry as Political Speech

March 14, 2018 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

- Free - $65

Poetry has a long and rich history as a primary form of political discourse. In this class, we will discuss what makes a poem political, look at examples of political poetry from the past and present, and generate new work based on today’s headlines. The challenge is to address contemporary issues with aesthetic integrity. Bring work in progress and/or news articles on topics that move you.
