Join Us for LIT UP! Charlotte Lit’s Annual Celebration

Charlotte Lit’s new annual celebration is Lit Up! Join us on Friday evening, May 6, 6:00-8:00 p.m., for a members-only appreciation event, featuring:

  • A reading, conversation, and book signing with acclaimed poet, novelist, and short story master Ron Rash
  • The launch of Litmosphere: Journal of Charlotte Lit
  • Recognition of the winners and finalists of the inaugural Lit/South Awards

Lit Up! is free for Charlotte Lit members (plus one guest), as a “thank you” for seeing us through the pandemic. (Not a current member? You can join or renew your membership here.)

Join is for the celebration! Hors d’oeuvres and adult beverages will be provided, with Ron Rash’s books and Litmosphere journals available for sale and signing. Pre-registration is required, here!

An Evening Conversation with Ron Rash

Ron Rash

Acclaimed author Ron Rash will talk writing and read from his latest book, In the Valley: Stories and a Novella Based on Serena.

Rash is the author of the 2009 PEN/Faulkner finalist and New York Times bestseller Serena and Above the Waterfall, in addition to four prizewinning novels, including The Cove, One Foot in Eden, Saints at the River, and The World Made Straight; four collections of poems; and six collections of stories, among them Burning Bright, which won the 2010 Frank O’Connor International Short Story Award, and Chemistry and Other Stories, which was a finalist for the 2007 PEN/Faulkner Award. A three-time recipient of the O. Henry Prize, he teaches at Western Carolina University.

Litmosphere Launch Party

We’re celebrating the inaugural issue of Litmosphere: Journal of Charlotte Lit, which will be officially released in May.

Lit/South Award Recognition

At the Lit Up! celebration, we’ll honor and recognize the 30+ winners of the 2022 Lit/South Awards.

Charlotte Lit received over 450 submissions to our inaugural Lit/south Awards. Current and past residents North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee, and Virginia were invited to enter their work into four categories (poetry, fiction, nonfiction, and flash) for a share of $10,000 in prizes plus publication in Litmosphere: Journal of Charlotte Lit.
